Armed Forces Covenant logo

We have been presented with the Armed Forces Silver Award under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, which recognises employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to the defence and armed forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.

We are very proud of our Silver status in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.

Our founder, Johnnie Johnson was a celebrated Royal Air Force pilot and a wartime 'flying ace', so supporting the Armed Forces community is still very important to us at Johnnie Johnson Housing.

In 2018 we signed the Greater Manchester Armed Forces Covenant and in July 2021 we were awarded Silver under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.

We recognise the value ex-military - regular and reservists, veterans and military families can contribute to JJH. We are working in partnership with CTP (Career Transition Partnership) and JobOppo. Organisations that provide resettlement services and job opportunities to those leaving the services, we advertise all suitable vacancies on their websites.

We have made a pledge that if ex-service personnel meet the essential criteria, we will guarantee them an interview. We also support JJH colleagues who choose to be members of the reserve and cadet forces, including accommodating and supporting their training and deployment where possible. Johnnie Johnson Housing will ensure that any reservist that needs to take time off for training is paid for up to 5 days training per year.
